This has to be the daddy of guitar song packages and features a surprisingly well balanced range of instantly recognisable songs featuring artists such as Van Halen, Carlos Santana, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Green Day and many more. The range of songs on offer should suit most guitar players and to be honest even if you didn't like many of the artists, the guitar techniques you will learn on this course will be well worth it.
When you first visit the site you'll be surprised to know that the first thing your offered is some free guitar lessons. There's not even a sales pitch! This both impressed and surprised us and its nice to see a "pitch free" home page for a change. In the first week alone we were emailed daily guitar lessons as well as guitar lessons for "Smooth" by Carlos Santana, "Layla" by Eric Clapton and "Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straits. All the lessons were taken from the main lead guitar course offered by Elmore music. So rest assured, 50 Easy Songs To Play On The Guitar is worth visiting for these free guitar lessons alone.
The quality of these lessons is very good and the video lessons are comparable with many of the other courses reviewed on this site. What we really liked however was the layout of each of the lessons. Each part of the song is split up into easy to manage chunks with the tablature on the left and the audio clips to the right. The complete video lesson is then included at the bottom of the page. It's a nice format that is both easy to understand and follow. I expect this will be especially useful to beginners.
Before saying anymore its important that we state what this course isn't. It's not a complete learning package and it will not teach you guitar theory. For that we would suggest you check out their other courses entitled Guitar Tips and Guitar Theory.
Basically this is 50 well chosen famous guitar songs with nicely laid out guitar lessons featuring guitar tabs, audo samples and video lessons. It's well priced at just under $50 dollars (USD) and comes highly recommended for beginners and intermediates.
