JamPlay Review

Jamplay Free Guitar Lessons | Jamplay Review

I always look forward to new online learning resources for guitarists and its always great to see how new companies push the boundaries of multimedia learning. Jamplay is a relative newcomer to online video guitar lessons but they already have what looks like winning formula in the shape of a membership site which broadcasts high-definition video guitar lessons in a variety of styles.

They have skillfully blended guitar instruction with interactivity by even allowing students to ask questions to their video instructors in real time. Which is something as far as I'm aware that's totally unique. Each instructor teaches by "lesson set" rather than the usual small video clips which allows for a more in depth approach to learning. Something that many guitarists will appreciate.

Free Lessons

One of the first things that grabbed me was the excellent free lessons which by now has become part of most guitar websites. These really are superb in the case of JamPlay and I particular liked ' The Trooper', Blackbird' and 'Back in Black' guitar lessons which happen to be a couple of my favourite all time tunes. Other free lessons include Green Day's 'Good Riddance' and some fingerstyle, Hawaiian slack guitar and jazz guitar lessons.

What do you get for your money?

As we mentioned earlier this is a membership site so you will be paying a monthly free which is currently £19.95 per month although you can pay either quaterly or yearly to get a small discount. For this you'll get access to the following.

  • 341 hours + of tuition in hi-definition video lessons
  • 29 Guitar instructors
  • Printable lesson documentation
  • Full chord library
  • mySpace style online community
  • Online interaction with guitar instrutors

So this is a very well presented website with a wide range of video lessons in varied styles (rock, blues, jazz, fingerstyle and metal) and although there are no famous names on offer compared to other sites the guitar instructors have plenty of experience and have a professional teaching style. I can personally see the community side of this site taking off much like Lick Library which will do it no harm and all in all this has a lot to offer guitarists of all levels.
