Metal Method Review
The Metal Method is a revised version of the extremely popular classic rock guitar course that has made Doug Marks famous for the past three decades. It includes six DVDs that explain the style of Van Halen, Page, Rhoads, and Hendrix. Although orientated towards metal guitar players the course does teach the same techniques which are the foundation of all modern rock, blues, heavy metal, and shred guitar.

The clip below illustrates Doug's in depth teaching style as he runs through how to play power chords, understanding intervals and rock guitar techniques such a palm muting. You'll also notice that the clip shows the split screen effect in addition to the on screen tablature notation at the end of every exercise.
All guitar techniques are played at both slow tempos and at normal speed. Exercises are demonstrated with close-ups of the left and right hand, then each exercise is shown with animated guitar tab so you can see and hear each note as it's being played.

The basic course costs $69.70 at the moment but it is possible to purchase particular modules of this course such as the 'Essential Guitar Techniques' DVD which only costs $4.95. This means that those guitarists wanting to see if this course is suitable can do so with minimal investment. Doug Marks has a great reputation as a guitar instructor and the system he has put in place has been proven to work and has earned him high praise from the likes of Guitar World magazine. The fact that Michael Angelo batio is associated with this company also speaks volumes.
